1. What is a Web3 wallet cross-chain bridge?

A cross-chain bridge refers to the conversion of assets between different networks, meaning the payment and receiving tokens are on different networks. You can make exchanges on the App, Web, and extension wallet. If you don't have assets on a certain network but want to purchase assets on another network, you can use a cross-chain bridge to make the trade. For example, SOL is issued and traded on the Solana network, but if you only have ETH, you can use ETH to cross-chain swap for SOL.

2. Preparations before bridge swapping

  1. First, you need to create a Web3 wallet: How to create or import an OKX Wallet?

  2. Deposit assets into your Web3 wallet: How to receive assets in your wallet

  3. Find the futures address of the coin you want to buy: How to add and view digital assets in a Web3 wallet?

3. How do you use a Web3 wallet for cross-chain bridging?

Take buying SOL on the Solana network as an example, where you exchange ETH_B3 for SOL. Before making a buy, you need to prepare for gas fees; for example, the gas fee on the Ethereum network is paid in ETH_B3, while the gas fee on the Solana network is paid in SOL.

App

Open your Web3 wallet, click on [DEX] - [cross-chain bridge]. The token at the top is the one you will pay with, and the token at the bottom is the one you will receive. For example, you can use ETH on the Ethereum network to bridge swap for SOL on the Solana network.

If there is no third-party bridge supporting transactions on this route, for example, if you hold USDT on the TRON network and want to exchange it for TRUMP on the SOL network, but this route is not currently supported, you will need to look for other feasible cross-chain bridge solutions.

An alternative approach is to first cross-chain USDT from the TRON network to the Solana network and swap it for SOL, then use SOL to exchange for other assets on Solana.

The operation method is: Click on [DEX] - [cross-chain bridge], select the target network and token, and enter the quantity to exchange. After confirming everything is correct, click Cross-chain Exchange and confirm in your wallet, then wait for the transaction to be successfully recorded on the blockchain.

Web

  1. Open the OKX Wallet official website - [Swap] - [Cross-chain Bridge].

  2. Select the token you want to swap, enter the quantity you wish to exchange, and the system will display the current reference rate, slippage, minimum received quantity, and other parameters. Once everything is set, click [Bridge Swap] and wait for the transaction to be confirmed on-chain.

Plugin wallet

Log in to the extension wallet: OKX Wallet Extension Wallet User Guide

On the plugin wallet homepage, select [Swap]. On the swap page, switch to [Cross-chain Bridge], then choose the token you want to swap, enter the quantity, and click [Cross-chain Swap]. Wait for the transaction to be confirmed on-chain.

4. Friendly Reminder

  1. Please make sure to back up your seed phrase for the new wallet.

  2. When exchanging with the native token of the mainnet, clicking 'All' when selecting the amount will automatically reserve a portion of the coin as gas fees to avoid transaction failure.

  3. When the network is congested, such as on the Ethereum network, gas fees may skyrocket. If the reserved gas fee is insufficient, the transaction may fail.

  4. For some coins, there are slippage tolerance when trading on DEXs to ensure successful transaction. For example, if a coin has a slippage tolerance of 3% and you set it to 1%, the transaction may fail.

  5. After the transaction is completed, you can view your asset on the wallet Home. Click the history icon to check your my trades, and you can also jump to the browser to view the details of a specific transaction.
