I am Cige. AMD's earnings exceeded expectations, but the stock fell 8% after hours. An old script is playing out again: good performance does not necessarily mean the stock price will rise.
AMD's earnings figures
Revenue was $11.536 billion, up 50% year-over-year, with adjusted EPS of $1.66, both higher than market expectations. Data center business revenue was $6.7 billion, up 107% year-over-year, accounting for 58% of the company's total revenue, with a gross margin maintained at 56%. The Q3 revenue guidance is about $13 billion, higher than the market average expectation but below some institutions' higher forecasts. After the earnings release, the stock fell more than 8% after hours.
Why did it fall despite exceeding expectations?
Market expectations had been pulled up too high in advance, and the guidance did not further surpass them, so the market was already pricing in higher expectations. When the "exceeding expectations" margin is not large enough, it is interpreted as "not good enough." AMD's problem is that high growth has already been priced in.
Impact on SanDisk
AMD's 8% drop after hours directly pressures SanDisk's earnings tonight. The storage sector has seen huge recent gains; SanDisk rose from 998 to 1468, with expectations fully priced in. AMD's movement is a signal: if the earnings just meet expectations rather than greatly exceed them, profit-taking will be very intense.

#BigTechEarningsWatch Palantir opened earnings week with a 93% growth print, raised guidance, popped 12%. Guidance is the ticket — beat without it and you get sold 📈
AMD after Aug 4 close: consensus $11.3B revenue, +47% YoY. Margins and AI chip demand are the real read. If AMD's AI numbers hold up, it puts more pressure on the "AI demand is fading" narrative 👀
SpaceX drops its first ever public-company earnings the same day. Aug 6 lockup of up to 911.5M shares right after — sell pressure and Starlink margin quality both under the microscope simultaneously 🚀
Circle pre-market Aug 5: consensus ~$714M, directly tied to USDC supply dynamics and rate sensitivity as reserves slip to $72.06B. Stablecoin economics are the story here 💵
Three very different companies, all reporting in a 48-hour window. Palantir already showed the market rewards guidance over revenue 🤔
AMD, SpaceX, Circle — which one has the most riding on this print for the broader crypto and AI narrative? 👇
🚨 AI is everywhere—but is it finally making real money, or is it still running on hype?
That's the question dominating earnings season.
With Palantir delivering strong results and investors watching AMD, Nvidia, Apple, Amazon, and Microsoft, the focus has shifted from "AI has potential" to "Can AI actually generate profits?"
Here's what's driving today's conversation:
🤖 AI
Can AI consistently outperform human traders, or is human judgment still the edge? Crypto AI projects like $TAO, $FET, $RENDER, $AKT, and $AEON remain in the spotlight as the narrative evolves.
🟠 Bitcoin
All eyes are on $BTC as traders watch key resistance, ETF flows, and upcoming U.S. economic data for the next directional move.
🔷 Ethereum
The debate continues around ETH ETFs, staking, and DeFi, while $ETH vs. $SOL remains one of the hottest discussions for the second half of the year.
⚡ AEON
Momentum is still strong following its OKX listing, with growing interest in its potential role in AI agent payments.
🚀 Altcoins
Today's momentum names include $AEVO, $BAND, $CORE, $KAITO, $SHIB, and $GOAT.
The AI race is no longer about who has the best demo—it's about who can turn innovation into real revenue.
So what's your take: Can AI consistently outperform human traders, or will experience always have the final say? 👇

Three earnings reports, three sectors, one question: where does capital rotate next?
$AMD carries the AI chip narrative into this print, with data center revenue in focus as the market tests whether demand is still accelerating or starting to plateau.
$SPCX faces its first real stress test since going public. Starlink growth is the headline, but the real story is the looming share lock-up expiry and whether early holders start taking profits.
$CRCL represents the stablecoin trade. USDC supply has been contracting quarter over quarter, and this report will show whether that's a blip or a trend investors need to price in.
AI, space, and crypto, three different sectors reporting in the same week, and the results could set the tone for where money moves next.
Which of these three moves the market most this week? 👇

AMD's financial report won, but I didn't follow it.
Many people waited for AMD's financial report last night, just waiting for one sentence:
As long as it exceeds expectations, the stock price continues to fly.
As a result, after the financial report came out, I put away the idea of buying.
It's not because AMD's financial report is bad.
On the contrary, this report card is actually quite beautiful.
- Revenue in the second quarter was $11.54 billion, a year-on-year increase of 50%; The adjusted EPS was $1.66, also higher than market expectations. Data center revenue was $6.7 billion, doubling year-on-year, and third-quarter revenue guidance was $13 billion, also exceeding Wall Street expectations.
If you only look at the financial report.
This should be a standard "good news."
But here's the problem.
With such a good financial report, why did the stock price drop by 7% after hours?
That's what I really care about.
A lot of people do business, always like to research companies.
I prefer to study the market.
Because the company tells you how much money you make.
The market tells you:
Is this money worth the current price?
AMD has risen too much in the past few months.
AI, MI450, Helios, data centers, OpenAI, Meta...
These stories, the market traded almost in advance.
So the real question yesterday was not whether AMD could exceed expectations.
Instead:
How much more than expected.
Now the market is no longer asking AMD to submit an excellent answer sheet.
Instead, it is required that each quarter be more crazy than the previous quarter.
The revenue increased by 50%.
Not enough.
EPS exceeded expectations.
Not enough.
Double the data center.
It's still not enough.
At this time, the stock trading is no longer performance.
It's an expectation.
To be honest.
A lot of people bought AMD yesterday, not because they believed in Lisa Su.
Instead, believe:
There must be someone willing to pay a higher price.
That's why I didn't chase.
I have no doubt that AMD will continue to grow in the next few years.

🤖 Are we finally seeing AI make real money, or are companies still just burning cash?
That’s the big debate right now as investors dig into earnings from Palantir, AMD, Nvidia, Apple, Amazon, and Microsoft. Palantir’s strong results are adding fuel to the AI optimism.
Here’s what people are talking about today:
🔥 AI
Can AI actually trade better than humans? With volatility spiking, can it even control the market? Also a lot of buzz linking AI to crypto: $TAO, $FET, $RENDER, $AKT, $AEON
🔥 Bitcoin
Next move for $BTC? Eyes on resistance, ETF flows, and what US data does to sentiment.
🔥 Ethereum
Talk around ETH ETFs, staking, and DeFi. $ETH vs $SOL for H2 performance is heating up.
🔥 AEON
Still trending after the OKX listing. Big discussion on its use for AI agent payments and long term upside.
🔥 Altcoins
Momentum names today: $AEVO, $BAND, $CORE, $KAITO, $SHIB, $GOAT
What do you think, is AI ready to out-trade humans yet?

🚨 All eyes are on $AMD's Q2 earnings.
The key focus isn't just the headline numbers—it's guidance for MI350X AI chip shipments.
Why it matters:
📈 Stronger-than-expected guidance could boost confidence across the semiconductor sector and encourage investors to rotate back into AI hardware names.
📉 Weaker demand or cautious outlook, especially if customers delay purchases due to software ecosystem migration costs, could pressure AI chip valuations and weigh on the broader sector.
Macro conditions also remain important.
If inflation surprises to the upside and pushes yields higher, broad risk-off selling could overshadow company-specific results. In that scenario, investors will likely shift their attention to how aggressively hyperscalers are actually executing their AI infrastructure capex plans.
For this earnings report, the market is watching guidance, customer demand, and AI spending trends more closely than the quarter that's already been reported.

AMD delivered a strong Q2: revenue reached $11.54B, adjusted EPS was $1.66, and data center sales rose 107% YoY to $6.7B. Q3 guidance near $13B also exceeded consensus, with gross margin holding around 56%.
The after-hours decline above 8% suggests expectations had moved beyond a simple earnings beat. The next test is whether Helios volume shipments can sustain growth fast enough to support the premium valuation.
NFA, just my read.
